Eggs Benedict

This was my first time making Eggs Benedict, and I was a bit nervous since I wasn’t exactly sure how it would turn out. The main challenge I faced was timing everything perfectly: the sauce, the poached eggs, and frying the bacon. I must admit, my eggs ended up a bit overcooked, but you can avoid that mistake 🙂. This dish originates from the United States and is very tasty. It’s quick to prepare, but you need to pay attention to certain details, such as poaching the eggs properly :)). Eggs Benedict

Eggs Benedict is a popular American breakfast or brunch dish that features two halves of an English muffin (I used normal toast) , each topped with Canadian bacon, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. The dish was popularized in New York City.

Instructions

  • Place the pan (preferably a nonstick skillet) over medium heat. Arrange the bacon slices in the skillet in a single layer, ensuring they don't overlap. Allow the bacon to cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of crispiness. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain off excess grease.
  • Separate two egg yolks and mix them well with salt, lemon juice, and paprika. Separately, melt the butter in a small saucepan and slowly pour it over the egg yolks, a little at a time. Add a bit of water to thin the sauce. Cook the sauce in a bain-marie until it begins to thicken. Be careful not to overcook it!
  • Bring water to a boil in a wide pot. I used about 1 to 1.5 liters of water. Add plenty of salt. When the water boils, add the vinegar and reduce the heat. Carefully crack two eggs into the water. Let them cook for a maximum of 2 to 3 minutes. I left them in a bit longer, and they came out "almost" hard.
  • Toast the two slices of bread, then you can spread butter on them. Place them on a plate. Top them with the slices of fried bacon.

  • Place the two poached eggs on top of the bread and bacon slices. Pour as much sauce as you like over the eggs. Serve immediately!
