When it comes to fasting meals, there are plenty of products available on the market. They are diverse and often delicious. However, unfortunately, many of them contain preservatives, colorants, or other less healthy ingredients. That’s why we try, as much as possible, to prepare such recipes at home. Here you can find more of these recipes.
After doing a bit of research, I decided to try this mushroom vegan pate recipe for the first time. Of course, I still prefer classic pork pate—there’s no comparison. 😊 But I have to admit, this vegan pate is very tasty and, of course, healthier.
Let’s see how to prepare it!

Vegetarian Mushroom Pâté
This vegetarian mushroom pâté is a simple, healthy, and flavorful spread made with sautéed mushrooms, onions, garlic, breadcrumbs, and fresh herbs. Blended into a creamy texture, it’s perfect served on toasted bread and pairs wonderfully with a touch of mustard. A quick and delicious homemade alternative to store-bought options!

Medium
Equipment

1 pan

1 hand blender

1 wooden spoon
Ingredients
600 g mushrooms I used brown champignons
2 onions
4 garlic cloves
1/2 bunch green dill
50 g breadcrumbs
5 tbsp olive oil
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat a bit of olive oil in a pan, then add the chopped onion (to your liking) and the chopped garlic. Sauté everything on low heat for a few minutes, then add the sliced mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook everything until the mushrooms are done, their water evaporates, and they start to brown slightly. Once ready, set the pan aside and let the mixture cool.
- Once the vegetables have cooled, place them in a blender or food processor and blend until you get a smooth paste. While blending, add the breadcrumbs and 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Once the mixture becomes creamy, mix it with a spoon and add some chopped dill or other herbs you prefer. Adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
- This mushroom pate is delicious served on toasted bread. We like to add a bit of mustard on top for extra flavor—it’s really tasty!Enjoy your meal!
